Become a Member of Wildlife Rescue Association

Vision: To continually improve the welfare of urban wildlife.

Mission: To provide leadership in rehabilitating wildlife and in promoting the welfare of wild animals in the urban environment.

Why join?

Wildlife Rescue Association is a non-profit organization that has been leading efforts in rehabilitating wildlife and in promoting the welfare of wild animals in the urban environment since 1979.

Society members are an important part of Wildlife Rescue. This voice in the governance of our organization plays a key role to ensure the success of the organization’s vision and mission. Please take a moment to review the Rights and Responsibilities of Membership below.

Eligibility for Membership

As stated from the Society Bylaws for Wildlife Rescue Association;

To be eligible for transition or admission as a Member in a category, a Person or Organization must meet the following requirements:

  1. Individual Members are Persons at least 19 years of age interested in supporting the purposes and activities of the Society.
  2. Family Members are two or more Persons at least 19 years of age interested in supporting the purposes and activities of the Society. Please note 1 vote per family.
  3. Business Members are Persons and Organizations supporting the purposes and activities of the Society.

In the case of any ambiguity or doubt regarding the eligibility of a Person or Organization for membership, such ambiguity or doubt will be resolved by a decision of the Board, in its sole discretion, and such decision will be without appeal.

Rights and Responsibilities of Membership

As stated from the Society Bylaws for Wildlife Rescue Association;

A Member in good standing has the following rights of membership:

  1. to receive notice of, and to attend, all General Meetings;
  2. to make or second motions at a General Meeting and to speak in debate on motions under consideration in accordance with such rules of order as may be adopted;
  3. to serve on committees of the Society, as invited;
  4. to exercise a vote on matters for determination at General Meetings;
  5. to nominate for the election of Directors;
  6. to be nominated to stand for election as a Director;
  7. to participate in the programs and initiatives of the Society, in accordance with such criteria as may be determined by the Board from time to time

Organizational Members may vote by and through one authorized representative, who is entitled to speak and vote, and in all other respects exercise the rights of a Member as described above. That representative must be considered as a Member for all purposes with respect to a General Meeting.

Roles and Responsibilities of Membership

A Member in good standing has the following responsibilities of membership:

  1. To be knowledgeable of Wildlife Rescue’s mission, goals, and priorities;
  2. To participate in good faith in a way which would be most likely to further the mission and purposes of Wildlife Rescue Association;
  3. To attend the Annual General Meeting, and to have reviewed the AGM materials that are sent to you in advance;
  4. To engage in dialogue and debate in a positive and respectful manner;
  5. To pay your annual membership due on time

Annual memberships start on September 1st each year.

Please note that our organization’s bylaws mandate the Wildlife Rescue Board of Directors Membership Committee must review and approve all membership applications. You can expect to hear back on the status of your application within approximately one month.
