How your gifts are processed

Wildlife Rescue Association is committed to responsible financial governance and the transparent, ethical stewardship of all donated funds, in accordance with CRA requirements.

What you need to know about tax receipts, fees, donor information, privacy and more

  • All gifts are reviewed and processed in accordance with Wildlife Rescue’s policies and CRA requirements.
  • Tax receipts will be issued automatically for eligible donations received online through Wildlife Rescue’s website (not including symbolic gifts). It may take up to 2-6 weeks to process and issue tax receipts for all other donations.
  • Securities donations are processed once the securities are received in Wildlife Rescue’s brokerage account. Tax receipts are issued based on the fair market value of the donation on the date of receipt.
  • Gifts-in-kind donations of items such as towels and other supplies are reviewed prior to acceptance.
  • Questions about gift processing can be directed to the Community Relations Team at 604-526-2747 ext 502 / giving@wildliferescue.ca.

General notes

  • Complete donor information is required to issue a charitable tax receipt
  • Tax receipts may take up to 6 weeks to be issued
  • Processing timelines may vary during peak periods
  • Calendar sales are not eligible for a charitable tax receipt
  • Gifts-in-kind may be eligible for a receipt if they are unused and accompanied by a sales receipt
  • Not all gifts-in-kind can be accepted due to program needs, safety, and storage limitations. If you have an item you would like to donate, please reach out to the Community Relations Team at giving@wildliferescue.ca or at 604-526-2747 ext. 502
  • Donations can be made in honor or in memory of a loved one. An acknowledgment letter can be sent to the honoree, but the tax receipt will be issued to the donor, as per CRA guidelines.
  • For monthly or recurring donations, you can update or cancel at any time by contacting us at giving@wildliferescue.ca or at 604-526-2747 ext. 502, or online through your donor portal.

Information we collect and why

When you use this platform to make a donation, we will collect the following information from you:

  • Your name and email address, mailing address (as mandatory) and your telephone number (as optional).
  • If given, your consent to send you further direct marketing communications by email. You can also opt out of future postal contact.

Any consents given will be managed according to our privacy policy. We will always keep your data safe and secure. You can update your preferences by contacting us at giving@wildliferescue.ca or at 604-526-2747 ext. 502.

Fees explained

A certain amount of your donation helps cover transaction fees. When you opt to cover these processing fees, more of your gift goes towards helping wildlife.
