Recurring donations

Be a year-round wildlife hero

When you give on a regular schedule, you’re there for wildlife every day of the year. Join our community of Freedom Partners with a recurring monthly donation, and give wildlife the best possible chance to heal and return to the wild, where they belong.

Support wildlife through all seasons

Your ongoing support gives our team the stability and flexibility to plan ahead and respond quickly, helping even more animals when it matters most.

Why monthly donations matter

Monthly giving ensures a steady flow of support when wildlife demand is at its peak, especially during baby season, avoiding resource bottlenecks.

Predictable funding

Wildlife doesn’t take breaks – injuries and emergencies happen year-round. Monthly gifts provide steady funding so animals receive timely medical treatment, rehabilitation, and release into the wild.

Better planning & preparedness

With predictable income, critical supplies such as medications, food and nesting materials can be stocked up on and prepared for seasonal influxes. This flexibility directly enhances the success of wildlife rehabilitation.

Faster emergency response

Natural disasters, habitat loss, or urban threats can spike wildlife emergencies suddenly. Steady support means quick responses, minimizing stress and suffering for affected wildlife.

Improved quality of life

Regular donations maintain high-quality enclosures, enrichment programs, and medical care, ensuring animals are comfortable and receive expert attention while recovering.

Why other Freedom Partners give

Continuous efforts in wildlife rescue really touched me. As someone living in the city, we should give back to support wildlife and their natural habitat.

I have brought birds into the centre several times and really appreciate the work you do. I know it's best for charitable organizations to have a guaranteed monthly contribution to help with budgeting and planning.

Frequently asked questions

Where does my donation go?

Your gift directly supports wildlife and their rescue, rehabilitation, and compassionate care at our facility. Caring for a single wild patient can cost around $533, covering protein-rich food, enrichment, heating pads and incubators, medications, supplements, expert medical care, and health monitoring. By supporting these animals, you give the gift of life – a second chance – providing care from dawn to dusk for those in urgent need. Every donation is directed to the areas of greatest need, addressing the ever-evolving demands of wildlife rescue and treatment.

Is there a minimum amount for one-time donations?

We welcome donations of any amount; every contribution makes a meaningful difference for wildlife in need. Gifts of $20 or more will receive a charitable tax receipt.

Is my donation secure?

Yes. All donations are processed through secure banking and payment platforms using industry-standard encryption. Our primary fundraising platform, Fundraise Up, is PCI Level 1 compliant and uses enterprise-grade security protocols to protect your personal and financial information. Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes. Donations to Wildlife Rescue are eligible for tax receipts in accordance with CRA guidelines.

Do you issue tax receipts for donations?

Yes. Tax receipts for online donations may be issued automatically. Receipts for other donations (cash, cheque, or certain online payments) are processed manually and may take a few weeks. Consolidated tax receipts for recurring donations are issued annually in February for the previous year.

I never received a tax receipt for my donation. What do I do?

If you haven’t received your tax receipt, please first check your Junk or Spam folder. If it’s not there, contact our Community Relations team for assistance at 604-526-2747 ext. 502 or via email giving@wildliferescue.ca.

If I dedicate my gift or give in memory, what happens to the tax receipt?

Donations can be made in honour or in memory of a loved one. An acknowledgment letter can be sent to the honoree, but the tax receipt will be issued to the donor, as per CRA guidelines.

Are there processing fees for my donation?

Yes. Donations are processed through secure banking and payment platforms, which charge standard processing fees:

  • Credit Cards: 2.9% + C$0.30 per transaction
  • PayPal: 1.99%
  • PAD (Canadian Bank Debit): 1% + C$0.40 (capped at C$5)
  • Platform Fee (Fundraise Up & Address Verification): 2%

You have the option to cover online processing fees to ensure more of your donation directly supports wildlife care.

Please note that cash and cheque donations are also subject to standard banking deposit fees. While these fees can’t be directly itemized or “covered” at checkout, donors who wish to offset them are welcome to add a small additional amount (for example, $2–$3) to their gift.

Can I cancel my recurring donation?

Yes. You can update or cancel your recurring donation at any time through your donor portal or by contacting our Community Relations team at 604-526-2747 ext. 502.
